I met Donna after only living in College Station for a short period
of time. One day when we were having an outing in our back yard we came
across a mourning dove with a broken wing. I called all kinds of vets
and they did not want to treat the bird. Not only that, some told me
that I could possibly be brought up on charges if I tried to rehab the
bird. One Vet did recommend that I call A & M. Someone there told me
about Donna and put me in touch with her. I do not know the fate of
that animal, but I was assured that everything humanly possible would be
done for it. I was not only touched by that but was also touched by the
number of animals that she was caring for.

(July, 1999) Recently a local magazine, "Insight Magazine", did an article on Nature's Haven. I had never heard of it before, but a lady we were working for showed me the article and told me a little about it. About two weeks later I went out to my truck and there lay a baby bluejay on its side..I presumed him dead..I thought one of my four cats had hurt it. BUT he raised his head and looked at me! I kept him in the grass all morning..his parents nearby..but he couldnt fly away..he couldn't use his legs. I didnt want to kill it to *put it out of its misery*..not when there was a chance for him!!
So I called Nature's Haven and Donna said "Bring him in", The last time I talked to Donna was a few days ago and her thoughts were that the baby had been fed a poison, possibly a poisoned grasshopper, and that had to work out of its system.....and I am smiling..because *my* baby had been put in the flight cage in preparation for his release.
